WHAT YOU NEED

Provisional licence required, or car licence with provisional motorcycle entitlement (which is Category A)

CBT required

You can now learn, and ride, a bike UP TO 46.6 bhp.(35kw). With us, this will be a 500cc motorcycle.

THIS IS KNOWN AS AN “A2 LICENCE”

You can only ride this bike when accompanied with a Direct Access qualified instructor, with L plates and wearing identifying clothing. YOU CANNOT RIDE WITHOUT AN INSTRUCTOR UNTIL YOU HAVE PASSED YOUR PRACTICAL TESTS.

Going on from CBT  you will probably have a lesson or two on the 125 you did your CBT on, just to get used to the “routines” and all the gears and controls etc, so that you will be confident in moving up to the larger bike you are now allowed to ride. First time on the larger bike will be off road in the safety of our training area, progressing onto the road when you are ready.

NOTE. ONCE YOU HAVE PASSED YOUR TEST ON THIS SIZE OF BIKE YOU CANNOT RIDE ANYTHING LARGER UNTIL YOU TAKE ANOTHER TEST.

YOU CAN TAKE THIS SECOND TEST EITHER TWO YEARS AFTER YOU PASSED YOUR A2 LICENCE, OR, WHEN YOU ARE Aged 24+

In summary, you will not, under any route, be able to ride a bike of unrestricted size before you are aged 21.

Step 1

PASS YOUR MOTORCYCLE THEORY TEST

NOTE If you hold a valid motorcycle theory test certificate, or if you have held your A1 licence for more than 2 years you do not have to re-take your theory test.

Step 2

PASS YOUR MODULE 1 TEST

BIKE SIZE – UP TO 46.6BHP (35KW) WITH US – 500cc

The module 1 test lasts about 10 minutes and we will teach you how to prepare for this through practice both in our own large training areas and the Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency test off road test centre.

Step 3

PASS YOUR MODULE 2 TEST

BIKE SIZE – UP TO 46.6BHP (35KW)- WITH US – 500cc

The Module 2 test lasts about 35 to 40 minutes and covers a variety of road conditions and situations. A DVSA examiner takes you for this test.

Our lessons are aimed at ensuring you are well prepared for your test – both mentally an, of course, your riding ability.
